Max Beach opened its doors for the 2020 season on July 7 and to go with its spectacular views, Max Beach has unveiled its new ‘Balinese’ concept. Find out more inside this article.
Max Beach has been a beach club icon on the Costa Del Sol for some years now, situated in Riviera Del Sol about 15kms east of Marbella. Last year, Max Beach was acquired by the Metro Group who own some of the best bars and restaurants along the Costa including Joys, Jacks Smokehouse Puerto Banus, Mumtaz, Bono Beach and Cibo.
Apart from the friendly valet parking service which in this location is a huge plus, our immediate observations when we entered the restaurant were the Mediterranean feel of the white seamless, polished concrete floors that blend with the central bar and the main reception desk, as well as an impressively well-stocked wine refrigerator on the right making your entry open and inviting.
Moving through to the front, the balcony has been converted to fully covered and set up with booths or open table settings. With the heat of the Costa Del Sol Summer and Winter downpours, this makes alfresco dining possible all year round. The main bar has been moved centre stage with tables for dining or lounging areas surrounding it on either side. This is convenient if you just want to come and have a drink. However once you get comfortable, we think you’ll want to stay! YourMoveToSpain.com’s favourite area though has to be the newly extended balcony (featured in the image above) with views of the Mediterranean and pool area. A fantastic spot day or night.
Heading downstairs to the pool bar and restaurant the new and stunning decor offers a mix of bamboo, wood and concrete with cushioned seating or traditional chairs and a recycled wood theme. You feel like you are having an upmarket experience but in a relaxed setting. There is plenty of space to chill or dine.
Poolside, there is an impressive 25m pool at 1.2m depth from end to end. Metro has opted to totally retile and refurbish the pool with stepped access either end. For those not so athletic this offers all the help you need for a graceful entry and exit! New and improved sun loungers with beach hut style umbrellas and quick dry material rather than the old faux leather beds of the past mean comfort and a cooler experience. Interestingly Max have also introduced the terraced theatre area at the end of the pool for private parties and an elevated view of the pool. If you are interested in prices you can find more information here.
The DJ box is situated at the theatre end of the pool and music is managed by Aaron Phillip who is Max Beach’s resident Music Manager. Usually there is some form of musical entertainment from 2pm every day during the Summer. In addition, you can access the beach and hire an exclusive Max Beach sun lounger for a beachside experience. The bar itself hasn’t changed much but we’d be remiss not to mention the swings at the bar adding a bit of playful fun when ordering a drink!
In terms of food, we will be honest, Max Beach has come up short in past years but this year we’ve noticed a change in the menus and chef, and a bigger change in the quality being served. Open at 9am for breakfast and serving all day long with either snacks at the beach or pool or lunch / dinner, all menus can be found online so you can be the judge for yourself. Vegan and vegetarian options are available too. We are impressed with the food we ordered on our recent visit so it’s a thumbs up from YourMoveToSpain.com!
So what do we think of the new Max Beach? We think you’ve added a touch of class to the Rivera Del Sol area that was in dire need of a shake-up – well done Metro Group. We look forward to more sundowners at our favourite place on the Costa!
